Solar Innovations? Announces the Successful AAMA HC40 Certification of their "8000 Series" Aluminum Sliding Glass Doors

Myerstown, PA (PRWEB) October 11, 2007 -- Solar Innovations?, a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial folding glass walls, sliding glass doors (http://solarinnovations.com/residential/sliding_glass_doors/), folding and sliding windows, folding and sliding screens, and more, is proud to announce the successful completion of AAMA/WDMA/CSA HC40 certification of the "8000 Series" aluminum sliding glass doors.

Tested in early July, Solar Innovations?' sliding glass doors (http://solarinnovations.com/residential/sliding_glass_doors/) passed structural, air, and water performance testing. Solar Innovations?' thermally broken system was also tested during this vigorous process and passed, meeting the A440-05 standards.

Throughout the testing, Solar Innovation?' sliding glass doors (http://solarinnovations.com/residential/sliding_glass_doors/), two, 61 3/4" wide by 93 1/4" high panels with 1" insulated glass, faced strenuous conditions which specifically test the locking mechanism, glass strength, and overall structural stability of both the fixed and operable door panels. A simulated external environment with extreme weather conditions ensures that the product can withstand uniform and concentrated wind loads in excess of 60 psf, water penetration up to 6.24 pounds per surface square foot, and air infiltration as high as .23 cubic feet per minute.

AAMA third-party certification, instituted in 1962, is the original verification for window and door product performance. This certification indicates a product sample has been verified as conforming to the requirements of AAMA's standards through independent laboratory testing, followed by on-site inspections of the manufacturer's production line.

"Solar Innovations? offers numerous styles of sliding glass doors with unique features." Dual track and multiple track sliding glass doors allow customers to increase their viewing area by accommodating a greater number of sliding panels. Customers may also choose to incorporate a pocket, which hides the glass panels from view when the sliding glass system is open.

"Solar Innovations? provides customers with many opportunities to customize their sliding glass doors to the exact specifications selected." Most sliding doors come standard with a stainless steel, two-point locking system. Each lock can be keyed independently, or all locks can be keyed alike for the customer's convenience. Recessed and raised handles are available in brass, painted, and brushed aluminum options for all sliding glass doors.

1 1/2, 1 13/16, or 3 1/4 inch wheels with precision bearings can be integrated into the sliding glass door (http://solarinnovations.com/residential/sliding_glass_doors/) systems. Certain Solar Innovations?' wheel options allow for the operation of sliding glass panels up to 800 pounds. The combination of precision bearing wheels and stainless steel track inserts create smooth, corrosion resistant operation in nearly every environment, including salt water saturated environments.

Solar Innovations?' multi-track and dual track sliding doors are pending Florida Impact Certification in IG 1" and Monolithic 7/16" for 4' by 8' panel configurations. Results for this test will be available in early 2008.

Solar Innovations?' sliding glass doors have also been tested at a .40 BTU/ft2 thermally broken level to meet AAMA 1503 standards. The combination of an improved frame and vinyl inserts allow Solar Innovations?' sliding glass doors to minimize thermal transfer with up to 15mph dynamic wind loads.

Solar Innovations? will continue to test additional products in the upcoming months. Please watch for updates on the website.
