ECE Receives Electronics Production Contract from Lockheed Martin

Toledo, OH (PRWeb) January 31, 2007 -- Electronic Concepts & Engineering, Inc. (ECE) has been awarded a contract for the initial low rate production of a distributed input/output communication node (I/O Node) for Lockheed Martin's AN/WLD-1 Remote Minehunting System (RMS). RMS is preparing to be deployed on U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyers and will become a primary Minewarfare Mission Package component aboard the Navy's new Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).

In addition to production, ECE has designed, developed, and qualified the I/O Node which utilizes both custom designed and Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) embedded electronics.

Each Remote Minehunting System contains 4 I/O Nodes that distribute hundreds of inputs and outputs via Ethernet Communication, drastically reducing the wiring in the system's critical components. The WLD-1, is an unmanned, autonomous, semi-submersible Remote Minehunting Vehicle. The RMV tows an advanced variable depth sensor designed to detect, classify, localize, and identify moored and bottom mines.
